PURECONNECT FAQs

WHAT IS PURECONNECT FOR?

Your audio gear, whether in the studio or on stage (or even just in your basement!), gets dirty over time.  Dirt, dust, and oxidization can build up and prevent your audio signals from passing cleanly from one piece of gear to the next.  Add this up over all of the components of your signal chain, and you could be experiencing more unwanted noise and signal loss than you are aware of.  You won’t typically recognize the issue until it gets so bad that something develops a loud crackling or even stops working entirely.  Maybe at that point you spray some contact cleaner into the guilty jack, and repeatedly insert a cable into it until the problem seems to go away….?  But you never actually addressed the original problem- the dirt and grime and corrosion that caused the signal loss in the first place.  Band-aid on a bullet hole, anyone…?

This is why we created PureConnect: to actually CLEAN your jacks and plugs, and to treat the connectors with proper contact cleaners.  This not only takes care of existing problems, but it helps to prevent new ones as well!  And you sound better too!  No need to wait for a stage or studio emergency in order to clean your gear….start today with a PureConnect kit that best serves your needs!

When I used the PureConnect to clean my instrument jacks there was a lot of DArk stuff on the tip. Should I clean them again?

For the best results, we suggest changing your MicroFelt tip when this happens. Once you have cleaned your instrument jacks adequately we recommend a regular cleaning schedule. You will notice that your tips will stay clean longer for future cleanings.

I've used up my tube of DeoxIT. Can I use a different type of cleaner?

We have tested DeoxIT and its performance is excellent and it is compatible with the material our tips and pads are made of. You may try others but we have not tested others so we highly recommend DeoxIT.

I noticed that the XLR pins that I cleaned are not bright silver after cleaning them with your cleaner kit. Am I doing something wrong?

No. It is normal for the bright color to become darker as it ages and it won't affect the connector performance. When cleaning connectors with our kits if you don't see any contaminants on the felt after cleaning the connector, it is clean and it will make a good reliable connection.
